RDP - Community Outreach

One of the company's objectives as a responsible chemical distributor is to educate the community on the importance of chemicals in daily living. Interstate Chemical Company is also committed to operating its business within the guidelines of the National Association of Chemical Distribution (NACD) Responsible Distribution Process^SM initiative.

Some of the community outreach activities that Interstate Chemical Company has been involved with include:

• Plant tours and audits by outside interest groups, ie. suppliers, customers, students, fire departments, insurance companies, etc.

• Distribution of pamphlets published by the NACD Education Foundation.

• Presentations to local schools on the safe handling and disposal of chemicals.

• Presentations to local colleges and universities on career opportunities in the chemical industry and safety and environmental management.

• Donations to public libraries for the purchase of children’s books on safety, health, and the protection of the environment.

• Donations to local voluntary fire departments and the United Way.

• Facility brochures summarizing plant safety and emergency response procedures.

• Sponsorship of a scholarship at Slippery Rock University for students majoring in chemistry and environmental science.

• Involvement with LEPCs and Emergency Response Centers.
